Businet Spring Workshops May 2025

16/4/2025

The Businet Virtual Spring Workshops will take place online between 12th and 23rd May 25.  As an opening to the individual workshops a special Businet Brunch on the subject of ‘Learning InclUZion:’ will be led by MJ Lace to launch 2 weeks of working and special interest group meetings. As is tradition at the annual conference and to round off the series of working group meetings there will be a feedback session on Friday afternoon. We have an Open session with the Board on Wednesday 21st so that members can invite their partner institutions, who may be interested to join us to discover more about the benefits of Businet Membership. On Tuesday 20th May there will be a Workshop to share the learning materials and resources developed as part of the INSPIRE Erasmus project and invite you to join to share your views and experiences.

Businet working groups are a USP of the organisation. Holding a workshop sessions virtually allows those who wouldn’t normally be able to join the conference to attend and get a feel for what is “going on”, within the network.  The timing of the meetings have been selected in consideration of our members from outside Europe, to give them the opportunity to attend at least some of the sessions during their daytime, whilst also allowing all members time during the day for their regular work.

The aim of the Spring workshops is for the individual working groups to establish where they are and where they want to be in the next academic year, and to give everyone the chance to network in advance of the Sofia conference.

What are the Spring Workshops?

The Spring workshops are meetings of the curriculum and special interest working groups of Businet. They were introduced to provide an opportunity for working groups to come together to continue their work between the Annual Conferences. For many years these workshops were physical events hosted by member institutes around Europe, but they have become virtual events since the pandemic. Being virtual they offer greater accessibility for our members and provide a sustainable approach to our networking.

The workshops enable a review process of 2024/25 activities and the opportunity to plan 2025/2026 activities. For new members, or new staff from established member institutions, they offer an insight into the network and the workings of the individual working and special interest groups.

They are an opportunity for working groups to promote the activities of their working group, for members to join and find out more about how they can contribute to activities, how staff and students of their institutions can benefit from participation in the working group.  For members of staff from member institutions to learn more about Businet and network with other member institutes. It is also an opportunity for members of the working groups to meet and to continue working on the themes and activities which came out of the Working Group Meetings in Istanbul and look ahead to the plans for the year and the next conference in Sofia.

Spring Workshop Schedule

The working groups are really the USP of Businet. Why not use these virtual meetings to introduce new people from within your organisation to Businet. Please also feel free to invite your non Businet partners to the open session with the board, that will be held on 21st May. An invitation can be found in the Newsroom to share with your partner institutions.
