The virtual spring workshops will take place between 12 and 23 May 2025

One of the major USP’s of the network is our "Curriculum specific" working groups and "Special Interest Groups". These groups meet at the Annual Conference of the network in November. There are 16 groups. More information can be found about the groups here.

These groups work on developing activities for staff and students and they make Businet the vibrant, active network that it is.

It takes time to discuss plans and to develop new ideas, so in addition to the annual conference, interested partners get together to plan and have 'thought showers'.

In addition not everyone can attend the Annual Conference so it allows them to play a part in the groups activities.

The event is typically openned with a Special Businet Brunch on a theme of topical interest to the network members.  The event concludes with a feedback session from all the working groups.  There will be an opportunity for non members to meet the board to find out more about the benefits of membership.

The aim of the INSPIRE workshop is to provide Businet members, training organisations and NGOs with the materials and skills needed to support entrepreneurs who have escaped war, conflict and situations with little or no human rights. The workshop originates from the INSPIRE project, which is running from 2023-2025 funded by Erasmus Key Action 2, with 7 partners, who are all from the Businet network.

Our workshop will initially present our literature review findings, followed by the results of interviews and surveys conducted with over 200 people in refugee like situations from Ireland, Belgium, Türkiye, Ukraine, Croatia and across Europe.

In the workshop we will demonstrate our tourism entrepreneurship course to participants and we will seek your feedback and contributions on improving the content. All participants will gain access to reports, a business start-up support database, PPT materials and training course materials which will be useful for anyone teaching topics related to business, the UN SDGs, entrepreneurship, social innovation and tourism.

The workshop will be delivered by the INSPIRE EU Project team. There will be 2 workshop sessions:

13:00 CET - 1 hour - Workshop for Staff to inspire and support Refugees into Entrepreneurship

14.00 CET - 1 hour - Workshop for students (typically those in refugee like or displaced situations) to inspire and support them into Tourism Entrepreneurship

This conference serves as a pre-conference to GeNeMe 2025 (Gemeinschaften in Neuen Medien — Center for Open Digital Innovation and Participation (CODIP) — TU Dresden), the renowned conference series “Gemeinschaften in Neuen Medien”, which has been bringing together experts from fields such as computer science, data science, media technology, education, business, and social sciences for over 25 years. Following our event, GeNeMe 2025 will continue the discussions on online communities and digital collaboration across disciplines.

Join us as we present the key results of the project, discuss insights from our international cooperation, and explore the future of gamification in education. The conference will bring together educators, students, and professionals from across Europe for an inspiring exchange of ideas and experiences.
