Conversation Tables
A new initiative introduced by the International marketing group this year is the virtual ‘International Conversation Tables’.
13 schools, with 270 students participating, get together over 4 evenings from March to May. The idea is to allow the students to chat together, on guided ice breakers and topics, in a variety of languages – English, Dutch, German, Spanish.... There is no teacher correction, no ‘classroom’ exercises, the aim is to allow students the opportunity to get together with their peers from different countries and gain confidence, and network…
The students are on tables of 4/5 students. There are 2 ‘rounds’ to each evening – with a change of table for the 2nd round. Keeping the same table numbers allows the students really to get to know each other and feel more at ease each time they meet up.
A challenge is always given for the end of the 2nd round – images/videos/word clouds that need to represent a particular instruction, using their imagination and creativity.
Dates: 10/03; 31/03; 24/04; 05/05.
Feedback from the students so far has been extremely positive.
